For Eugene Appleton, the summer of 1876 in Rattlesnake Junction, Colorado promises to be just as sleepy as the ones before. Eugene's life takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of Tumbleweed Thompson, a gangly, red-haired boy with a knack for spinning yarns and finding trouble. Drawn into Tumbleweed's orbit, Eugene soon finds himself chasing smugglers, firing rifles, and competing for the attention of the lovely Charlotte Scoggins. The pair's innocent mischief takes a serious turn when they stumble across a sinister plot hatched by the infamous Clean Shave Gang. They learn a lot from each other's friendship. But will it be enough to thwart the Clean Shave Gang's plans?

The Misadventured Summer of Tumbleweed Thompson is a wild and wooly tale that is classic Americana for a new generation.

"So much fun! I read this aloud to my kids, and we couldn't put it down. Every night, they were asking to stay up late for 'just one more chapter!'" -AC

"My 6 kids (ages 4-12) and I just finished listening to this wonderful story. We loved the adventure and suspense along with the values of faith, justice, friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice. With a huge helping of humor thrown in, this is a perfect book to share with your kids!" - All Our Days

About the Author: GLENN McCARTY is the author of the middle grade novel The Misadventured Summer of Tumbleweed Thompson, as well as Junction Tales, a companion collection of stories, and two Dead-Eye Dan novels for young people. He teaches middle school English in Western New York, where he lives with his wife and children in a small town that’s pretty much Mayberry. But without Don Knotts. Bummer. He also has a dog who likes to bark at visitors, then boldly run and hide from them. He finds campfires and banjo music two of life’s simple pleasures. And pie.

About the Illustrator: JOE SUTPHIN is an illustrator and cartoonist of books for young readers. His work includes the Eisner Award winning Watership Down: The Graphic Novel, the re-envisioned classics Little Pilgrim’s Progress and Little Christmas Carol, and Andrew Peterson’s Wingfeather Saga.
