  • “Such good themes. A couple lines from the book stood out to them and we had great conversations that I'd say were pretty deep for a couple of teenage boys. I thought they would not be interested but they asked me to get the book and read it to them.”

This story and fits after Prince Lander and the Dragon War and before The Green Ember.

Do I have to read The Green Ember (any books) to understand this story?
Green Ember: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb serves as an excellent gateway into the Green Ember world. You can start here! Of course, we hope you'll want to go on to the rest of the story.

Do I read the book or play the game first?

Either or! S. D. Smith wrote the book and the game at the same time so they would work hand-in-hand with one another. There are some minor differences due to the different storytelling mediums, but the game is intentionally designed as a videogamization of the novel. We've heard from some parents using the game as an incentive to play after they've read the book.
